Peach Social

We encourage community involvement and attempt to strengthen the association between the residents and the surrounding community. Relatives and friends are encouraged to visit and children and domestic family pets are especially welcome. Efforts are made to involve Residents in the local community, by both, inviting community groups to visit the Home and planning community outings. For most community outings, transportation is arranged by the Activity Director with Darts. Residents who participate in the outings will be billed for the Darts ticket by our business office.

Volunteer involvement is always encouraged to assist with organized programs and provide individual services. Potential volunteers interested in sharing their time, learning a new skill, or completing community service hours, can learn more about becoming a volunteer by contacting the volunteer co-ordinator.

Orientation sessions for new volunteers are held monthly; generally one evening session and one daytime session are scheduled. Those interested in volunteering at Victoria Gardens need to attend one of the scheduled orientation sessions. Interested persons must contact the volunteer co-ordinator to register their attendance.

During the orientation session, potential volunteers will be given the form to complete their Request for Vulnerable Sector Screening (Police Clearance check), and a consent to sign for the Volunteer Co-ordinator to contact two references on behalf of the applicant. Once accepted as a volunteer, volunteers will need to complete a two-step TB test which can be done on-site. It is the hope at Victoria Gardens that this will make your volunteer time here an enjoyable and successful experience. If you have any further questions about our volunteer application process, please feel free to contact the Volunteer Co-ordinator.
